Jamila Minnicks is the author of Moonrise Over New Jessup, the 2021 winner of the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction. Her work is also published or forthcoming in CRAFT Literary Magazine, Catapult, Blackbird, and The Write Launch, among others. Her piece Politics of Distraction was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Her work has been supported by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, the Howard University School of Law, and the Georgetown University Law Center. She lives in Washington, DC.
