Short Fiction Workshop with Vanessa Hua: The Craft of the Short Story

This four-day workshop will be offered as a part of Catapult and WME's Writer's Winter Break this coming January 2020

- Vanessa Hua


- Support and feedback from award-winning, bestselling author Vanessa Hua and fellow dedicated writers 

- Focus on developing character, setting, point-of-view, and other craft elements

- Understand how the structure and pacing of short stories differs from longer works of fiction

- Advice on revision and other next steps

- Students are expected to submit up to a 2,500-word short story by December 15th

- Before the course begins, students should have read each other’s manuscripts. Over the four-day workshop, they should be prepared to provide constructive verbal feedback, as well as write marginalia and at least a paragraph of comments on each other’s work
