Doubting Fearless Love

I think it is crazy to say that love does not exist. I believe that people who say that immediately close their hearts. It is impossible to have an opinion on the existence of love if you are never open to it. It only takes one person to change your perception.

I used to think that I would never find someone who cares about me. Especially someone who cares about me enough to know love exists. So I have never thought of a true picture of love. Yes, you have your parents to look to - if you’re lucky. But you’re never really convinced that it’s real or that’s what it will be like. Then again, you know it’s there to some degree.

In high school you would assume you’d experience some form of “love”, but society fills your head with thoughts that it’s not real and that it will never last. Except for those few stories about high school sweethearts getting married one day. So you hold on to that love you find at 17 and hope that it never ends. Fear drives love. For as long as you’re afraid of being alone you’ll love someone. Until it hurts. And then when it hurts, good or bad, you’ll still want more, and you’ll still be afraid. You might still have this fear that that was your one shot and you ruined it. But then why are you given your one shot as your first shot. How are you supposed to make mistakes and learn from them if you love in fear? This could very well be your fate. Are you then supposed to fear fate? It’s inevitable. Some people just cannot love fearlessly.

If you can learn to love fearlessly, bravo. I find it really hard to imagine loving someone without ever imagining life without them. Why would you want to?
