Amy Shearn is the author of two novels, The Mermaid of Brooklyn and How Far Is The Ocean From Here. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Poets & Writers, The Rumpus, The Millions, Electric Literature, and elsewhere. A graduate of the University of Minnesota MFA program, she has been awarded a Sustainable Arts Foundation grant and a residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm. Amy has taught writing for Sackett Street Writers' Workshops and NYU, and curated an interview series at the Brooklyn Public Library. Currently, she is an editor at JSTOR Daily, and lives in Brooklyn with her family.
